Frequently Asked Questions

To help you get started, we have answered the most frequently asked questions here.
1
Can microcement be used with underfloor heating?

Microcement over a floor with underfloor heating is certainly possible. The underfloor heating must have gone through the start-up protocol. If you purchase our floor package, you will receive a complete package including a leveling mortar with mesh to apply first after the primer.

Tip: make sure that the underfloor heating is switched off during the processing of the microcement and that you turn it on slowly when it is finished to prevent cracks from forming.

2
Is a bathroom and/or shower floor also suitable?

Our floor package is very suitable for a bathroom floor. In principle, we advise against a shower floor. Why? Even with the best guidance, there are many factors that can cause leakage. In combination with sealant seams, with connection to the drain, etc. Applying it over an existing situation is an additional risk, while it is somewhat easier to do in a new situation. Advice: seek advice!

3
Do the seams of the walls and floor need to be sealed?

Yes, all seams between wall and floor must eventually be sealed. Internal corners may not be completely sealed, because a house always moves a little. This prevents cracks and leakage. After each layer of Microcement or leveling mortar, cut the corners loose with the tip of your trowel. Seal the seams with an acid-free silicone sealant only 2 days after the last PU coating. Preferably use a sealant primer for good adhesion.

4
What does the microcement floor package consist of?

Our floor package contains the following components: Primer, Premium Leveling Mortar with mesh, microcement base layer, microcement finish layer, presealer, PU Coating.

With this package you can get started completely when it comes to applying microcement on the floor. Don't forget to buy any necessary tools. The flexible microcement trowel is a must to be able to spread it thinly.

Tips.

1. When applying, pay attention to the application route, working yourself out of the space. 2. Cut the edges with the tip of the trowel to prevent cracking. 3. Re-coat after a few years to keep the floor looking nice! For more tips, contact us or even better: follow a workshop!
