Frequently Asked Questions

To help you get started, we have answered the most frequently asked questions here.
1
Is microcement in the bathroom waterproof?

With the right base, preparation and finishing, microcement in the bathroom is waterproof. Make sure you have a flat and stable base.

The best is a cement-based plaster wall, you can go over this with our Wall Base | Waterproof package. Other surfaces such as green plasterboards are also very suitable. Then you follow the steps we have written out and make it waterproof with PU Coating (2 components).

2
What are the benefits of microcement in your bathroom?

1. Maintenance: microcement is easy to keep clean because it has no joints that can get dirty. Cleaning a lot faster!

2. The beautiful industrial look of microcement in any color you want!

3. It is easy to do yourself and widely applicable! After following a workshop you can apply microcement yourself in various places in your bathroom. Think of your floor, wall (also over tiles) or bathroom furniture, almost on any surface!

3
Can I apply microcement directly over tiles?

After applying the primer and a waterproof layer (membrane) you can use microcement over the tiles. Make sure that your tiles are firmly attached, and preferably do not have larger joints than 3mm. Use the Wand Allround package.

If the joints are larger, you must first prepare them with our premium levelling mortar, Package Wall Pro.

4
Which surfaces are suitable for the bathroom?

The most ideal surface for applying microcement to the wall is cement-based plaster, smoothly finished. You can immediately apply our Wall Base | Waterproof package over this.

For the floor, these are a sand cement floor or anhydrite floor. On the floor, you always apply our floor package, including a premium expansion mortar and base layer of microcement for wear resistance and ultimate strength.
